Maye River Baptist Church enjoys a rich heritage of faithful service and dedication to spreading the Word of God. Maye River was organized as a preaching station from Euhaw Baptist Church, Ridgeland, South Carolina from 1752 to 1774.

As early as the 1750's there is evidence of an active ministry. Maye River was constituted in 1811 with 169 members. In 1928, members were inspired to build a small frame church which was used until 1959.
In 1959 when a new sanctuary and educational building was built. In 1992 we dedicated a remodeled Sanctuary and in 2006 we dedicated a new Fellowship Hall.

Our area was involved in the American Revolutionary War, Civil War, two severe hurricanes, and the Great Depression. We built four churches, established four missions, ordained five ministers, and were serviced by over 45 pastors.
